
The “Meat and Milk Cost Calculation Workshop” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science brought together public and sector representatives, professional associations and scientists.
The “Meat and Milk Cost Calculation Workshop” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science to address the costs of meat and milk production, which have an important place in the cattle breeding sector, was held at the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The workshop, which was carried out with intense participation, brought together scientists and the public representatives, civil society organizations, animal producers and company representatives in the sector, who are stakeholders in the subject. Prof. Dr. Dilek Arsoy, Head of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Near East University, and Prof. Dr. Duygu Aktürk, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Department of Agricultural Management, 18 March Çanakkale University, took part as speakers.
The workshop, which addressed the importance of cost calculation in meat and milk production, optimization of production processes and efficiency-enhancing strategies, provided participants with information on the latest developments in the sector and innovative methods in cost calculations.
The workshop, which brought together stakeholders in the milk and meat sector, was attended by Gülgün Dairy Products Directors Yunus Betmezoğlu and Mustafa Betmezoğlu, Avunduk Dairy Products Director Candan Avunduk, Salahi Nersin from Roseday Animal Husbandry and Farming, Güven Yücener from Cypro Chips, Butchers Association President Raşit Şenkaya and Member Devrim Erlant from Zeytinlik Meat Market, Milk Producers and Importers Association (SÜİB) President Mahmut Erden, Animal Producers and Breeders Association Asım Gülçeken, Agricultural Engineer Kuntay Vurana, small cattle producer Mustafa H. Abraş, Veterinarian Mert Dercan and representatives from the Veterinary Department and Livestock Department.
Sustainable production and increasing quality food production were emphasized
Prof. Dr. Dilek Arsoy, who spoke on the importance of cost calculations and innovative studies in the field of animal husbandry, emphasized that accurate cost calculations in the animal husbandry sector play a critical role in ensuring sustainable production. Prof. Dr. Duygu Aktürk, who addressed milk and meat production costs from the perspective of agricultural economics and business management, provided important information to the participants on how economic analyses can be used to increase the productivity of producers and ensure profitability in the sector.
The workshop also provided a comprehensive platform to increase cooperation and exchange of information between academics, researchers and sector professionals interested in animal husbandry. Participants, who emphasized that such events are an important step in increasing sustainable production and quality food production in the animal husbandry sector, stated that more similar studies should be organized in the future.
