Quality Culture and Strong Laboratories

A seminar titled “Strong Laboratories with Quality Culture” was held on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Hall 2 of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Near East University, by Assistant Professor Dr. Perihan Adun, a faculty member of the Food Engineering Department.
The seminar was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Özge Özden, Deputy Deans Prof. Dr. Salih Gücel and Assoc. Dr. Buket Asilsoy, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr. Beyza Ulusoy, and valuable faculty members and students from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Landscape Architecture and Food Engineering Departments.

The seminar addressed questions such as what is a strong laboratory, what is quality, what does a quality test result mean, and what are the internal and external reasons for establishing a quality awareness and system.The basic concepts of ISO/IEC 17025, the international gold standard containing the necessary conditions for establishing a quality system in a test laboratory, were summarized.

The event highlighted the types and sources of errors in analytical processes, emphasizing that despite the analyst’s diligence and necessary precautions, errors cannot be eliminated but can be minimized, and their magnitude must be known (measurement uncertainty).Additionally, 35 people participated in the event.

The event is aligned with SDGs 4, 8, and 9.
