Associate Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buket Asilsoy attended a conference in Florence on behalf of the Near East University Department of Landscape Architecture.

The Department of Landscape Architecture of the Faculty of Agriculture was represented at the ‘Urban Planning and Architectural Design for Sustainable Development (UPADSD)-9th Edition’ conference held in Florence on 22-24 October 2024.

The conference was held at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Florence (DiDA), on 22-24 October, under the leadership of the IEREK (International Experts for Research Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange) Institute. At the conference, international, qualified scientists came together and had the opportunity to share their knowledge online and face to face.

The 9th edition of the conference aimed to discuss pressing issues faced by cities, and explore innovative solutions that promote sustainability. Such an academic platform would open discussions on strategies to create environmentally friendly and energy-efficient urban environments, integrating green spaces and renewable energy sources.

Assoc. Dr. Buket Asilsoy attended the conference and presented two separate papers. One of these presentations is prepared with Assist. Prof. Dr. Ümran Duman and titled as ‘Investigating Universal Design within the Framework of Social Sustainability in Northern Nicosia with Analyses and User Views’. The second one is prepared with PhD candidate M.Arch İpek Yaralıoğlu and titled as ‘Assessment of Green Infrastructure in the context of Urban Sustainability: A study in Northern Nicosia’.
