Assistant Professor. Dr. Perihan Adun, at the Department of Food Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Near East University, attended the seminar titled “Food Safety-One Health” and “Innovative Approaches in Food Packaging” held at the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry on behalf of our University.

The Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry and the Chamber of Food Engineers met for a seminar titled “Food Safety-One Health” and “Innovative Approaches in Food Packaging” on the occasion of October 16 World Food Day.

In the seminar organized in two sessions, Near East University Food Engineering Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perihan Adun gave a speech on “Food Safety-One Health” and Prof. Dr. Zehra Ayhan from Sakarya University Food Engineering Department discussed the topic of “Innovative Approaches in Food Packaging”. The seminar ended with the presentation of a plaque after the Question and Answers session.

Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry Secretary General Erçin Tekakpınar said, “What can we highlight and discuss as a result of this seminar regarding food? I want to focus on those points.” He said. Tekakpınar, who stated that more than 40 companies with international standards in the food and beverage sector export to 18 different countries, especially Turkey, emphasized that they should establish strong collaborations between the agricultural and industrial sectors, encourage innovation, strengthen the technological infrastructure and develop new production techniques in line with the principle of environmental sustainability.

Beste Oymen, President of the Chamber of Food Engineers, stated that they came together today to celebrate World Food Day and emphasize the importance of food in life once again.

Gika-KOOP President İçim Çağıner Kavuklu expressed that she was very honored to come together today on the occasion of World Food Day.

Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş, Çavuş, stated that sustainable agriculture, food safety and waste were mentioned in the speeches at the seminar and stated that all of these are important.
