On 13 April 2026, the academic staff and students of the Faculty of Agriculture at Near East University paid an academic visit to the Havva Hanım Training and Research Farm, which operates within the university. The visit was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Özge Özden, Founding Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture.

The visit was attended by Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Salih Gücel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buket Asilsoy; Vice Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Dr. Sinem Yıldırım; Head of the Department of Food Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Şebnem Güler; Vice Head of the Department of Food Engineering, Lecturer Mehmet Karagözlü; Asst. Prof. Dr. Perihan Adun; Head of the Department of Animal Science, Dr. Hüseyin Çelik; as well as students from the Departments of Food Engineering and Animal Science.

During the visit, students were provided with comprehensive information on the main components of livestock production, including animal breeding and husbandry practices, feeding and care systems, housing conditions, production planning, animal welfare, sustainable livestock management, and applied farm operations. Members of the academic staff emphasized the importance of supporting theoretical knowledge with field-based learning experiences in order to strengthen students’ professional development.

Through the technical observations conducted at Havva Hanım Training and Research Farm, students had the opportunity to closely examine ongoing production activities and gain first-hand insight into practical livestock management. Particular attention was given to breeding methods, feeding systems, the organization of production processes, and educational applications carried out at the farm. This enabled students to observe how classroom-based knowledge is translated into practice in a real production environment.

The visit also highlighted the value of interdisciplinary education, underlining the importance of bringing together different departments of the Faculty of Agriculture in shared academic activities. The participation of both Food Engineering and Animal Science students within the same program contributed to a more holistic understanding of agricultural production systems and their interconnected dimensions.

In line with its practice-oriented educational approach, the Faculty of Agriculture at Near East University continues to support its students through activities that integrate academic knowledge with practical experience. This visit to Havva Hanım Training and Research Farm was regarded as an important academic event in terms of enhancing students’ professional awareness, technical knowledge, and field-based learning.
